Anahiem - $36,000 in Grants to Aid Energy Conservation - Anaheim Public Utilities will use $36,000 in grants to enhance local conservation efforts, officials said. The American Public Power Assn. awarded the city the money to use in programs that encourage customers to conserve energy use during rolling blackouts, as well as compensate for the blackouts in other ways. The money will also go toward installing solar-powered lights and fountains at a city garden, city officials said. LATimes 2001.11.26

Efficiency and Renewable Energy Efforts to Create 750,000 New Jobs - The new study, "Clean Energy: Jobs for America's Future,(210 kb pdf)" developed by the Tellus Institute and the World Wildlife Fund indicates that efficiency and renewable energy policies and programs could create more than 750,000 new jobs over the next nine years and 1.3 million new jobs by 2020. According to the study, by implementing policies to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, the U.S. can begin to address some of today's most pressing environmental and energy challenges, global warming, while continuing to create jobs.

Win Trip to Winter Olympic Games...Igniting Creative Energy Challenge -The National Energy Foundation is sponsoring a creative energy challenge open to K-12 students nationwide. Student entries must reflect the theme “Igniting Creative Energy” and demonstrate an understanding of what an individual, family or group can do to make a difference in their home or community. Students may express their ideas in the form of documented science projects, essays, stories, artwork, photographs, music or video or website projects. They may also submit recent service or science projects.. Deadline is December 15th. more info
