CEC to consider
reducing PV rebate to $3/watt in 2004 [Sacramento]- The
California Energy Commission's Renewables Committee will conduct
a workshop on December 11, 2003, to solicit comments on proposed
revisions to the Emerging Renewables Program Guidebook (publication
# 500-03-001F). Primary consideration is to reduce the rebate
to $3/watt to stretch the rapidly depleting funds further.
The rebate is currently at $3.80/watt and is scheduled to
be reduced to $3.60/watt on Jan. 1, 2004.For more information,
please go to: http://www.energy.ca.gov/renewables/02-REN-1038/notices/2003-12-01_notice.html
CPUC to consider
controversial SCE Solar project Thursday 12/4! - A controversial
centralized power PV plant project proposed by Southern California
Edison, will be considered by the California Public Utilties
Commission on Thursday 12/4 in San Francisco. The project
proposes a 5MW installation, but would depend on the CEC emerging
renewables funds, a scarce resource that is rapidly depleting
due to the high demand for residential solar systems. CalSEIA(comments
pdf), TURN/ NRDC (comments
pdf) and others are opposed to the project. Public comments
will be heard at 10 am in SF - 505 Van Ness.. read
here for more information on Resolution E-3814. As if
it wasn't hard enough trying to develop a sustainable customer-sited,
solar market... here is more %#@ that we have to deal with.
If you're in the area, please consider attending the Public
Commission meeting on Thursday and voicing your opinion. Contacting
the commissioners may also be an option - via
phone or email. check the website for this information.
The commissioners are: Susan Kennedy, Geoffrey Brown, Loretta
Lynch, Carl Wood, Michael Peevey. More
information on emailing, calling or speaking at the meeting
in San Francisco.

Tor Allen shares about the Story of Solar
Electricity at the recent Solar Forum,
as depicted in the 12 panel display, based on the book "From
Space to Earth - The Story of
Solar Electricity" by John Perlin.

A informational display greets Anaheim Convention
Center's visitors, telling about the
PV system on it's roof. Click
