IN BRIEF

Solar Forum
(California Solar Center) Presentations posted online
- presentations from the recent series of Forums held in San
Diego, Sacramento, and Los Angeles are now available online.
Over 300 people attended the Solar Forums to learn about solar
programs and projects in California.
UCI students
call for solar energy use
- UC Irvine students joined their University of California
peers in supporting solar power and energy-efficient building
design. The student government passed a resolution in late
October to let the UC Board of Regents know that it supports
renewable energy and sustainable building design for the rapidly
expanding UC system. With the system's 10th campus awaiting
construction, the UC system will create massive demand for
new buildings over the next five years. The UC Go Solar initiative
asks the Regents for a commitment of 25% on-site renewable
energy for all new buildings and an additional purchase of
25% renewable energy from power companies, upon availability.
The Board of Regents will have a chance to discuss the issue
at its Nov. 13 and 14 meeting in San Francisco. [source: Daily
