Solar Energy Seminar - Berkeley Building Education Center April 14 - 10am to 5pm - Learn how to size, specify and design your own solar electrical generator, or photovoltaic (PV) system. Instructor Gary Gerber, P.E., President of Sun Light and Power in Berkeley, will explain how you can produce your own electricity and "sell" the excess back to PG&E, running your meter backwards! You will learn about all of the components of a typical system, how to decide whether you want batteries, how large your system should be, how much it should cost, and more. This seminar includes a field trip to a functioning system in Berkeley and comprehensive reading materials. At the end of the day we will design a system for one of the class attendees, so bring your average monthly electricity usage (i.e. kWh usage on PG&E bills from the past 12 months), if possible, and a sketch of the property roof, noting south. Class is held at the Building Education Center, 812 Page St., Berkeley, Ca 94710. $75.00.

Steve Heckeroth: Solar Solutions - Eve Lecture in San Francisco - April 18th - Steve Heckeroth, Director of Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) for Bekaert ECD Solar Systems (UNI-SOLAR) will draw on his 30 years of experience in the renewable energy field to discuss issues relating to sustainability and solar design, including wind machines, solar water and space heating, electric vehicles, and BIPV. His presentation will include projects ranging from active and passive solar homes to electric Porsche Spyders. Thursday, April 18 (6:00 pm to 8:00 pm) Pacific Energy Center 851 Howard St. San Francisco - FREE register here
