Sharp Corporation receives Underwriters Laboratories
(UL) certification on three solar panel models.

Sharp Corporation announced today that it has received UL certification
for three solar panels
ranging from 80 Watts to 165 Watts. The modules are based on polycrystalline
solar cells and
will apply to products sold in the United States from January 2002.
The certification standard is UL 1703. UL certification is considered
an important aspect of any
sales strategy for marketing products in the United Sates particularly
for government and public
applications.
The polycrystalline modules covered by the certification have
rated watt peaks of 165W, 125W
and 80W.
Underwriters Laboratories, established to 1894, is acknowledged
widely as the authority on
safety inspection in the United States. Underwriters Laboratories
Inc. (UL) is an independent,
not-for-profit product safety testing and certification organization.
This certification comes after receiving a similar approvals from
TUV of Germany (Technischer
Uberwachungs-Verein) during the summer.
