Pacific Solar today introduced its SunEmpower™ solar electric rooftop system to America at a product pre-launch at the UPEx'01 conference in
Sacramento, California.

As a silver sponsor of the conference, Pacific Solar's Managing Director, Mr David Hogg said: "The UPEx'01 conference provided the perfect
opportunity to showcase Pacific Solar's innovative SunEmpower™ system. The annual coming together of electricity utilities and the photovoltaic
(PV) industry to share experiences provides a clear focus for empowering householders to be part of the solution to the twin dilemmas of global warming
and the energy crisis."

SunEmpower™ is very much part of the solution. Its totally modular design allows householders to choose the number of modules they want to
meet their needs and budgets. With a grid-tied micro inverter behind each panel, SunEmpower™ simply plugs together in layouts to suit the roof
shape. Its appliance-like nature ensures a neat and quick installation, with quality designed in from the start to give high performance and long life.

Over the coming months Pacific Solar will be setting-up distribution channels and seeking the certification of SunEmpower™ for operation in the
US. A formal launch of SunEmpower™ in the USA is planned for mid 2002. This follows on from its success in Australia where it was first
launched in mid 1999 under the name Plug&Power™ and now accounts for over a quarter of all sales in Australia's largest state, New South
Wales.

Three SunEmpower™ demonstration systems have been established with Sacramento Municipal Utility District. These are included on the
conference delegates tour to provide delegates with first hand experience of the system's unique features.
