Red push button on shelf activates a spotlight mounted in
the upper section. The spot light shines on the solar cells on the model building,
which then powers the
music box, LEDs, and spinning wheel. Visitor can put hand on the dome to control
the action. The light is
on a timer (20 seconds).
Designed to be free standing. Requires power outlet nearby. small footprint
(3'x3'). Sturdy - The solar dome
configuration has withstood discovery center-like environment at Chabot Space
& Science Center (Oakland) for
>2 years, with little maintenance. This new structure provides for a compact
housing, adaptable to many spaces.
The graphic panels can be customized for your audience.
This First Tri-Side Solar Dome Display will debut at the ASES conference in
Portland Oregon (July 11-15), and
will then be placed into service in Imperial Valley, home of IID Energy (Imperial
Irrigation District), to help promote
solar energy awareness & programs in that area.
